Guests who decided to spend their holidays in Caruso Resort can visit one of the most beautiful private gardens in Europe “the Mortella Gardens” that were created in 1952 by the English composer Sir William Walton and his wife Lady Susana. The gardens are located on the promontory of Zaro, just 900 meters from our Resort. The Mortella Gardens take their name from the myrtle bushes growing between the rocks near the structure.
The Gardens has a surface of 3 hectares and there are thousands of rare and exotic plants.
From April to October a lot of cultural shows take place in the Greek Theatre. With more than 50000 visitors, the Mortella Gardens is every year the most important cultural structure of the island.
Our guests can go to the nearby thermal parks like the Negombo (2.5 km) and the Poseidon (6.3 km)
The Resort is located on the promontory of Zaro where you can enjoy one of the most enchanting views of the island and admire the Church of Santa Maria del Soccorso ( one of the symbol of our island ) and the San Francesco Beach reachable in 10 minutes on foot.
Only 1 km from the Resort, you will find ” La Colombaia” , the residence of the famous director Luchino Visconti where a lot of cultural events take place. Going forward, there is the statue of the Holy Mary of Zaro that is famous for her messages and appearances .
